Main Purpose of Role:
To work effectively with the Head of Arts and colleagues to support and contribute to the curation and delivery of exhibitions, residencies, publications and events, their public interface and contribute to the development of future programme plans.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
– To support the effective delivery of the exhibition programme by undertaking planning, development and research, where appropriate.

– Providing comprehensive administrative support to the exhibition programme, including securing loans for the exhibition, insurance coverage, administering project documentation, obtaining and reviewing business quotations and all associated correspondence.

– To work closely with colleagues and liaise directly with artists, collectors, organisations and exhibitors on behalf of the Art, Learning and Engagement

– To lead the organisation and display of the exhibition programme and with the support of technical colleagues, the installation and de-installation of exhibitions. Supervising volunteers and Gallery Learning Facilitators in this activity.

– To be responsible for the art handling procedure for all exhibits. Processing and documenting the condition on arrival of all artwork, handling, installation,
monitoring and safe guarding of all artwork during exhibition.

– To maintain, monitor and source exhibition equipment when needed with the assistance of technical colleagues.

– To assist the Art, Learning and Engagement Manager and colleagues in the production and editing of text for exhibition interpretation, programme
information publications, printed materials and website.

– To undertake, contribute and be responsible for the development and safe keeping of the exhibition programme archive.

– To work with the Craft & Design Retail Manager in researching and installation of retail exhibitions and events.

Special Circumstances:
This role requires a flexible approach to work which may incorporate some evening and weekend working. Annual leave may also be restricted at certain times of the year to account for peaks in workload.

Qualifications and Experience:
Qualifications and Professional Memberships:
– Educated to Degree level or equivalent within a related subject area.

– Demonstrable experience of working within a similar visual arts focussed role.
– Proven experience of project coordination and exhibition.

Key Knowledge and Expertise:
– Good proven knowledge of contemporary art.
– Demonstrable IT skills in wide variety of Microsoft Office packages.
– Excellent administration and organisational skills.

Qualifications and Professional Memberships:
– Post graduate qualification within a related subject area.
– Well networked in the visual arts community.

– Practical experience of handling art.
– Proven experience and understanding of glass making.
– Demonstrable experience of writing and publishing.

Key Knowledge and Expertise:
– Proven knowledge of the Higher Education environment.
– Proven knowledge of applied arts.
