EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, CONTEMPORARY ART GALLERY (VANCOUVER)

The Board of Directors of the Contemporary Art Gallery is seeking an Executive Director to lead and manage the internationally acclaimed, Vancouver based, Contemporary Art Gallery. The new Executive Director will steer the Gallery into the next phase of its now-40-year history of engagement with international and local art practices and communities.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for setting the overall artistic vision for the Gallery; for guiding and implementing its strategic plans; for representing the Gallery to the public, funders and other stakeholders; and for planning and overseeing the Gallery’s operations, which are currently executed by a team of 7 employees.

Housed in a street-level, purpose-built facility and uniquely positioned as the only independent public art gallery in downtown Vancouver, the Contemporary Art Gallery strives to be deeply connected to its place and time while delivering programs that explore the fluid transformations of artistic practices as they are shaped by social forces. The ideal candidate will have an inspiring curatorial vision that fosters connections with international and diverse local communities. S/he will equally be capable of strategically orienting the Gallery’s approach to ongoing fundraising needs, as well as managing the Gallery’s outreach and operational requirements.
