The Portland Museum of Art is searching for a dynamic and experienced Curator of Contemporary and Modern Art to lead a growing program with a strong commitment to the art of our time. The candidate is expected to have a track record of cross-media and collaborative projects that engage and build audiences and an interest in advocating for art and artists through public speaking. She/he also needs to be able to translate these qualities into scholarly writings that contribute to the historical record. While participating in and connecting to the national art scene, the candidate will also play an active role in engaging the current and historical role Maine continues to play as a site for artists.

Master's Degree in Art History with emphasis on contemporary and modern art with at least five years of professional curatorial experience. Ph.D. preferred. Please visit the Museum's web site at www.portlandmuseum.org for a full position description and application instructions.
