The Kamloops Art Gallery is seeking a highly-motivated person for the position of Curator.
The principal goals of the position are to provide visitors to the Kamloops Art Gallery with enriching visual arts experiences that stimulate discussion, reflections on self and society, a sense of community, and the production of new ideas, and to contribute to the development of the permanent collection as an accessible resource for current and future generations.
The Curator assumes the lead role in research, selection, planning, organizing and evaluation of exhibitions, publications and related education programs, as well as the permanent collection, oversees the activities of the Program Team, administers budgets and supervises staff.
The successful candidate possesses a degree in art history or a related field with an extensive understanding of contemporary art practice and art history; at least five years experience working in an art museum/gallery; outstanding written and verbal communication skills; excellent organizational and computer skills (specifically Microsoft programs); and demonstrated budgeting and supervisory skills.
Employee status: Permanent full-time
Salary: $50-60,000 commensurate with experience
