The Cleveland Museum of Art seeks a highly motivated and experienced curator to lead its Department of Contemporary Art. Cleveland is expanding its collection and programs in contemporary art from 1960 to the present making this position an extraordinary opportunity.
The successful candidate will be fully integrated into the Department of Contemporary Art with a complete range of curatorial activities, including developing the collection through purchase and gift, collection research and publication, gallery interpretation and exhibition development. Of special note are plans that call for the development and implementation of exhibitions at the museum’s main campus as well as at the Transformer Station, a satellite exhibition space on the city’s west side. To support these goals, the CMA maintains one of the finest art research libraries in the country and a major conservation facility.
Job Requirements
A Ph.D. in Art History is preferred, as is a minimum of five years of museum experience. Candidates will be judged on their institutional record, scholarly profile, and interpersonal, supervisory and communication skills. Ability to work as part of a team is essential.
