The Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation is seeking a Curatorial Assistant for the Futurism exhibition. As a member of the Curatorial Department, the Curatorial Assistant, is responsible for assisting with research for an upcoming exhibition on Italian Futurism and for the establishment and maintenance of records, databases and files related to the exhibitions.

•Manage exhibition database
•Maintain exhibition files
•Manage loan correspondence
•Conduct image research and obtain visual and audio materials and reproduction and usage permission for catalogue, films, web, etc.
•Conduct research on artists and works of art
•Assist Exhibition Manager with preparation of curatorial budgets and analyze and review entire exhibition budget
•Assist in preparation of exhibition texts, including labels and checklists
•Work closely with Registrar and Conservation departments on object/loan related issues
•Work on all aspects of publication from research and fact-checking to review of manuscripts and translations through final production
•Assist with development of special programs and information materials intended for the general public for Education and Visitor Services, including symposia, brochures, audiotour and digital media
•Develop materials for other departments and act as a liason with these departments including: Development, Public Affairs, Marketing, Retail and Membership
•Assist in oversight of all design and graphic design aspects, including signage, pedestals, wall construction, lighting, etc.
•Assist with exhibition layout, coordinate design-related matters and assist with installation
•Assist with coordination of Bilbao venue
•Assist with daily administrative functions, including but not limited to handling mail, drafting correspondence and submitting invoices for payment
Qualifications and Requirements:
•M.A. in Art History or the equivalent (defined as at least 3 years prior museum work experience. Majors in other relevant disciplines will also be considered on a case by case basis
•Background in modern art and knowledge of Italian Futurism required
•Previous experience in a registrar or curatorial department preferred
•Interest in curatorial research
•Excellent oral and written communication skills
•Professional demeanor and diplomatic skills
•Ability to successfully interact with a wide variety of internal and external individuals, including collectors, galleries, donors and colleagues in the museum field
•Proficiency in Italian desired
•Knowledge of computer databases and MS Office software
•Writing sample to be provided upon request
