Posted by April Steele • Thursday, June 23. 2011 • Category: Jobs & OpportunitiesThis is an opportunity where you will gain significant experience with an Assistant Curator in researching and developing a new and exciting cross-disciplinary programme at Tate Modern. Tate Modern is currently at the planning stages of a major series of events and installations and you will contribute to the development of its concept and future implementation. You will also gain experience in the general administrative, day to day duties of the Curatorial Department.
Please note that this internship is offered as a volunteer activity and as such is understood to be outside the scope of the National Minimum Wage legislation.
Ideal candidates:
• University or post-University student.
• An interest in and knowledge of contemporary and modern international art.
• Excellent administration and organizational skills and good at prioritizing tasks.
• Experience in undertaking research
• Able to use own initiative as well as work independently.
• Attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer literate: MS Office, MS Outlook.
• Previous experience in a museum or gallery is desirable.
A commitment to a minimum of 3 months working a minimum of 1 day per week is required.
Tate Modern has flexible working hours from 8:00 / 10:00 to 16:00 / 18:00.
Travel expenses within London (up to Zone 6 only) to Tate Modern will be reimbursed for every day you come in to the office.
During your internship you will have the opportunity to participate in some of the most exciting curatorial work nationally and internationally in a really stimulating environment. This will in turn give you a number of formal and informal learning opportunities that will assist you with your future career.
Tate is unable to make an offer of employment at the end of the programme. However, you will have a formal career development review in which we will assess what you have learned and how you can apply your new experience to further your career.
