Posted by April Steele • Thursday, April 21. 2011 • Category: Jobs & OpportunitiesThe Arkansas Arts Center seeks a Curator of Drawings whose chief responsibility is the care, scholarly interpretation, and exhibition of all work in the drawings collection as well as recommending acquisition of new work and the care, interpretation, and exhibition of drawings on loan to the Arts Center. An advanced degree (PhD preferred) in art history or related field is required. Specialized knowledge of drawings, 20th century and contemporary art, and the history of American art. Five to ten years museum curatorial experience. Track record of exhibitions and publications. Ability to work in a collaborative environment. In addition, the Curator of Drawings must be a passionate and energetic person with the ability to manage, research, position, exhibit, and develop an important collection. S/he must have the demonstrated interest and ability to share the collection with diverse audiences and to build a positive image and lasting relationships for the Arts Center. S/he must be an innovative thinker and a great communicator with the ability to present the drawing collection and the Arts Center to all internal and external constituencies and must have a reputation for the highest level of integrity and credibility.
